What is the Manticore font?

This text face design by John Hudson is, like its namesake, a hybrid of uncertain origins, an echo of antique forms dressed in a new skin. No ‘design process’ was involved in its conception; it was made like a poem, from sourceless inspiration, blind intuition and not a little faith.
