It was a sprained ankle that inspired Joachim Müller-Lancé to design Ouch. During the 1995 ATypI convention, he spent the entire time on crutches, and during his hands-on time in the TypeLab, he says, [I was] inspired to take a fresh and ironic approach to my incapacity. I began to scribble characters made up of a variety of devices - some that I knew first-hand and others I had seen in movies or comics. Ouch is meant to be fun.
